Colleagues,

After yesterday’s tragic accident at Schofield, our team in once again engaged in the important work of supporting families and students and coordinating efforts with Town authorities. Throughout all of this, I am reminded how often our work extends beyond what is typically defined as “teaching and learning”. As educators, our roles and impact are often felt outside of the classroom. I thank the many colleagues this week who in little and large ways stepped forward to support our community at a difficult time.

Finally, I want to remind everyone that this weekend is the annual Wellesley Wonderful Weekend. With activities such as the Hunnewell Fun Fair tonight all the way through the parade and final fireworks on Sunday, there are a number of great activities occurring in town this weekend. It also looks like the weather will be fabulous!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Best, David

The following positions are open:

Proctor (Hall Monitor): $100, 7:00am to 1:00pm*
Associate Supervisor (Test Proctor): $125, 6:30am to 1:00pm*

*All positions have the opportunity for early release should students arrive and complete testing early.

Please note the following:

According to College Board guidelines, Associate Supervisors and Proctors must be current or retired faculty or other professional staff of WPS or from a neighboring institution or a graduate student.

Also, according to College Board guidelines, an Associate Supervisor or Proctor cannot administer any SAT Program test that will be taken by a member of their household or immediate family at any test center NATION WIDE.

If you are interested in any or all of the dates and are eligible according to the College Board guidelines, please email Kyle Getz at getzk.

In your correspondence, please indicate which position you would be most interested in filling, as well as your current address and cell phone number.

March with METCO in the Wellesley Parade on Sunday, May 21
In honor of the 50th Anniversary, Wellesley METCO has been selected to receive a Special Recognition Award at the annual Wellesley Veteran’s Parade. This will be the culmination of the anniversary activities this year, and let’s make it the best!

We will have honored guests riding in two convertible cars with signs recognizing the program and students holding a large banner with the anniversary logo for all the Wellesley community to cheer. And of course we’ll have candy and other surprises to hand out along the parade route.

What do we need? MARCHERS! We hope to have a large contingent of students, family members, graduates, WPS teachers and staff, and friends to march alongside the cars. We have 50th Anniversary T-shirts for those who sign up early!

METCO marchers will meet at the Wellesley Community Center (junction of Rts 9 and 16) by 12:15pm on Sunday, May 21. The parade begins at 1:00 and the route is about a mile to the center of Wellesley. Depending on where our position is in line, will determine what time we finish…somewhere around 2:15-2:45pm.

Please use this link to let us know you’ll be marching and your preferred t-shirt size. If you normally march with other groups (school, scouts, etc.), please consider this special 50th Anniversary opportunity to honor and celebrate Wellesley METCO. We can help arrange transportation to the start/from the finish…let us know in your comments on the sign up sheet.
