Dear Colleagues,

Happy new year and welcome to 2019!  I hope you each had a safe and restful break and that you are finding your post-holiday sea legs during this relatively short first week back.

January will be an important month in the budget approval process for FY2020.  The School Committee and liaisons from the Advisory Committee spent many hours reviewing the Administration’s Recommended FY20 Budget during the week before the winter recess. The Committee will be discussing its initial thoughts on the recommendation at its meeting on Tuesday, January 8th, which begins at 5 pm in the Great Hall at Town Hall.  The Committee will then hold a public hearing on the budget at its meeting on January 22nd at 7 pm at the Police Station (Don’t read anything into the venue) and vote at its meeting on February 5th.  Ultimately, whatever budget is approved by the School Committee must still be approved at the Annual Town Meeting, which begins at the end of March.  If you have any questions about the budget (which is posted in its entirety on our web page) don’t hesitate to reach out to me or other members of our leadership team.

Have a great weekend and thank you for all that you do to support our students.

Best regards, David
