Dear Colleagues,

I hope you each had a productive week.  As part of the School Committee’s annual process to approve the next year’s calendar (SY2024-25), the Committee has been discussing the possibility of adopting more religious/cultural holidays in light of our community’s growing diversity and a desire to engender a greater feeling of inclusion and belonging among students, staff, and families.  With this in mind, you’ll find a message in your inbox from earlier today with this same message and I encourage you to share your thoughts on this important topic with the School Committee at School_Committee@wellesleyps.org.  These calendar options can be found at : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PWye16iz3B2lNP-apbXMiPhDdYrHePYI .  The School Committee will be meeting on Tuesday evening (12/19) next week to resume its deliberations on this important topic.

I also want to remind everyone of the policy already in place to provide both sensitivity and work flexibility to students on days of religious and cultural significance: http://z2policy.ctspublish.com/masc/browse/wellesleyset/wellesley/IMDA

Thanks for everything you do to support our students and have a great weekend everyone!

Best, David

Chief Jack Pilecki and the Wellesley Police Department with the support of Dr. David Lussier and the Wellesley Public Schools will be hosting the 3rd Annual Winter Holiday Blood Drive at Wellesley High School on December 28th during December break.

Blood is a perishable product and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. The need for blood is constant. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime. Sign up to donate today and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There’s no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life.

Calendar
December 25th – January 1st December Break – Schools Closed
January 2 – School Reopens
January 15 – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Schools and Offices Closed
February 19 – 23 – February Break
