Colleagues,

I hope your second week of school was productive and that you and your students have begun to settle into familiar routines. You may have seen the news a few days ago about students in Weston being targeted on SnapChat to upload inappropriate photos of themselves. This story, and others like it, remind me of the brave new digital world in which we and our students live. Preparing our young people to successfully navigate this ever-evolving environment is no easy task, but one that we must continue to embed in our work. With nearly universal access to an online world in which few boundaries exist, our students need the “street smarts” to leverage the power of this access while avoiding so many of its potential pitfalls. As we engage our students in the use of technology this year, I encourage everyone to also maintain conversations about what the responsible use of that technology looks like. (And what it doesn’t!)

Have a great weekend and thank you for all that you do every day to support our students.

Best regards,

David
