Superintendent’s Bulletin
September 11, 2015
Dear Colleagues,
I hope everyone is basking in the glow of last night’s Patriots victory in their home opener!  While this was a short week, I know it was a tough one, given the very hot weather we experienced on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Thanks to all for working through these tough conditions and remaining positive for your students.
Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the Sprague Back-to-School night and today, I attended the 9th-Grade parent orientation at WHS.  As both a superintendent and parent, I was so impressed with the approach our team takes to showcase the wonderful learning environment present in the Wellesley Public Schools.  When parents see the passion and expertise of our educators coupled with the extraordinary support in place for our students, I know they feel fortunate to have access to such an amazing school district.
I also want to thank Rob Evans from HRS who does so many things to support WPS.  In particular, his annual message to parents to help prepare the child for the path and not the path for the child is so important for our work.
Tonight is our annual home football game under the lights at WHS!  If you have never experienced “Friday Night Lights,” please come out and root for the Raiders as they take on the Peabody Tanners tonight at 7pm!
Please remember that our schools are closed on Monday, September 14th, for Rosh Hashanah.

Finally, today as our nation pauses to remember the tragedy of 9/11, please keep in your thoughts the memories of those we lost.  Best regards,
David

Interested in Afterschool Work for Extra Pay?

Associate Supervisors and Proctors Needed!

Associate Supervisors are needed to administer SATs for October 3, 2015.  Proctors are needed to monitor the halls, direct students to their classrooms and assist the Main Office staff with running the test center, as needed.  Both positions are paid positions so you will be compensated for your time.
Associate Supervisors and Proctors need to report to the test site at 7:15 a.m.  A brief training for those who have never administered the SAT will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015.  The length of the test day will vary depending on the proctoring assignment.
Please note the following:

  • According to College Board guidelines, Associate Supervisors and Proctors must be current or retired faculty or other professional staff of WPS or from a neighboring institution or a graduate student.
  • Also, according to College Board guidelines, an Associate Supervisor or Proctor cannot administer any SAT Program test that will be taken by a member of their household or immediate family at any test center nation wide.

If you are interested and are eligible according to the College Board guidelines, please contact Kyle Getz (x4888) at the high school via email or phone.  In your correspondence, please indicate which position you would be most interested in filling.
IMPORTANT:  Indicating interest doesn’t guarantee a position as the number of Associate Supervisors and Proctors required to run the test center is based on the number of students testing as well as their needs.  Every effort will be made to make positions available to as many people as possible.
