Hunnewell Track & Field Project Updates

With Lights Installed, Focus is on Preparing for Team Rooms – Since 2021, School Committee has endeavored to bring bathrooms, an upgraded concession stand, lights, improved sound system and team rooms – collectively known as Phase II Enhancements – to the Hunnewell Track & Field. The lights and sound were installed in Summer 2024, allowing for a full year of night games. Bathrooms and concession buildings were delivered in time for the Class of 2025’s graduation. The upcoming installation of Team Rooms will make up for the significant reductions that had to be made to the locker room and storage space in the 2008 design of Wellesley High School. The Town has the opportunity to fill in the final puzzle piece at the Fall 2025 Special Town Meeting on 11/3/25. With design completed, permitting secured, and bids in hand, School Committee will request funds for the construction of the Team Rooms (Article 7) — see Article 7 memo, presentation and handout. Should the funding request be approved, team Rooms are expected to come on-line in the Fall of 2026. Read more on the T&F Projects page.
