Kindergarten Registration for children 5 years of age on or before August 31, 2026

Important Information Regarding Kindergarten Registration for the 2026-27 School Year

Dear Families,

Welcome to Wellesley Public Schools! I am pleased to announce the Kindergarten Registration “Round-Up” for the 2026-2027 School Year for children who will be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2026. Kindergarten registration notices are being mailed out to families based on the information they have provided in Town census data. Kindergarten registration will be available online beginning January 16, 2026 for the school year 2026-27.

To encourage early registrations, we have created a three-part process for this year that will include a meet-and-greet opportunity for families in early March. The first two steps are the online registration process.

Online Registration

Step 1

To begin, fill in your pre-registration information using the button below. Your pre-registration will be reviewed by the district Registrar during school hours. Online registration forms are available in Simplified Chinese (中文), Korean (한국어) and Spanish (Español). If you need translation help when completing the new student online registration, please contact the district Registrar at registrar@wellesleyps.org or 781-446-6210;5600.

Step 2

Wait to receive an email from the Registrar during school hours with further instructions for logging into PowerSchool where you will complete the remainder of the online registration forms and upload your required documents. Required documents include:

  • Immunization Record
  • Student’s Birth Certificate or Passport
  • Photo Identification of a parent/guardian (i.e. MA Driver’s license or passport)
  • Proof of Residency (such as P&S Agreement, current property tax bill, or Lease with child/children’s names listed)
  • Proof of Occupancy (such as current utility bill)
  • Custody Agreement (if applicable)
  • Individual Education Program (IEP)/504 Accommodation Plan/English Language Learner (ELL) Records (if applicable)

Immunizations and other medical records must be uploaded to the Nursing Department’s SNAP Health Portal, which you can access from within PowerSchool. Read more information about the SNAP Health Portal or contact the Nursing Department for Health Portal questions at nursingportal@wellesleyps.org.

If required, nurse follow-up and English Learner screenings will occur at individual schools by appointment.

Please be aware that your enrollment is not complete until ALL required forms and documents are submitted and approved by the Registrar.

Kindergarten Welcome Event

We encourage all families to begin the registration process as soon as possible. Questions regarding Kindergarten registration should be directed to the District Registrar at 781-446-6210; 5600 or registrar@wellesleyps.org. If you do not have access to a computer or smartphone, please contact the District Registrar to make an appointment to complete the process at the Central Office.

The District Registrar will offer “office hours” for drop-in help each Wednesday in February from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. If you prefer to set a time to meet, please email registrar@wellesleyps.org to request an in-person, zoom, or phone appointment.

Students who are fully registered on or before March 1st, will be invited to an in-person Kindergarten Welcome event on the morning of Saturday, March 7th. The location of the event will be determined later and sent to fully-registered families. Families will have the ability to meet Central Office Administrators, Building Principals, Building Nurses, Wellesley College Community Center (WCCC, After School Program) representatives, and Chartwells (Food Service Vendor) representatives.

Once placement decisions have been made, kindergarten students and their families will be invited to tour their school and meet the principal. We anticipate these events will take place in April and May.

Eligible Students Not Planning to Enroll

Please note that if your child is age-eligible but will not start kindergarten in the 2026-27 school year, we ask that you notify us that you will either defer your child’s attendance for one school year or that you have enrolled your child in a private/parochial/other school. In both of these cases, you do not need to complete the registration process. These notifications allow us to plan more effectively for space and staffing needs for the incoming and future cohorts of Kindergarten students.

Written deferment requests should be sent to:

  • Via email (preferred):  registrar@wellesleyps.org  or
  • Postal mail: Wellesley Public Schools, ATTN: District Registrar, 40 Kingsbury Street, Wellesley, MA 02481

Registration for Grades 1-12

Registration for Grades 1 through 12 will begin on February 7, 2026. Please go to the WPS Student Registration page to begin that process.

Whether you are a new or returning family, we are excited to begin this journey with you and look forward to welcoming you to our Wellesley Public Schools family.

Sincerely,
Dr. David Lussier
Superintendent of Schools
